Ornefjell
Who am I?
Research indicates that this is the Norwegian cargo ship Ornefjell. The ship was built in 1937 and scrapped in 1971. The Ornefjell served in several convoys during World War II before seeing duty in the Great Lakes.
You are correct, that is indeed a Norwegian ship from the Olsen & Ugelstad lines. I don’t think it is the Veslefjell though. A fellow from Australia thought it might be the Makefjell. Since, the ship name appears to contain an “N,” I don’t think it is the Makefjell either. Thus, it will still remain a Mystery Ship
The stack insignia is that of Olsen & Ugelstad, Oslo, Norway.
ReplyDeleteLooks very similar to the Veslefjell: http://www.vos.noaa.gov/MWL/april_05/shipwreck.shtml
