Vintage Photos Depicting Unidentified Ships Of Yesteryear

I began my interest in vernacular photography by a chance acquisition of over 10,000 negatives dating from the late 1920's through the early 1970's. Luckily, I knew what I had was something more than "someone's old pictures." This cache of old images became the impetus for me to create two Photoblogs: Ookpik’s Negativity and Mystery Ships Of The Great Lakes. Ookpik’s Negativity contains photos that I would like to know more about while Mystery Ships Of The Great Lakes features photos of ships that I am trying to identify.

W.E. Fitzgerald, former self unloader that sailed for the Gartland SS Company.
W.E. Fitzgerald was the father of Edmund Fitzgerald for whom the ill-fated Fitz was named.

My father in law was a deck hand on this ship around 1961-62. He has been telling stories about his seaman days back when he was around 19 and we looked up this ship. It really brought back memories for him.
I have had the life preserver from this ship for the past 30 years and would like additional information and pictures of it. Could anyone please advise? Thanks, Jason
MY NAME IS MIKE BLATCHFORD I SAILED ON THE FRITZ IN 1961 AS A DECK DAYMAN. I WAS ON HER FROM 10/25 TO 12/08. THEM WERE GOOD DAY'S. I AM NOW RETIRED FROM THE AMO,IN 2005. IT WAS A GREAT LIFE NO REGREATS, NOT A ONE.

My great grandafather W.S. MacQueen was the captain of the Fitzgerald from 1928-1943. Heard many stories about it from my grandfather Angus who worked on it a couple summers. Jason can you email me a photo of the life preserver you have off it?

I think my Dad may have been on this ship. His name was James "Jim" Gallagher. He was the Captain on the Nicolet. I'm not sure for how long...I have a nice photo of the Nicolet, the W.E. Fitzgerald and the William Irwin. thruthefirepubl@aol.com
I found a post card with a picture of this ship my Dads papers. I didn't know them but had a great aunt and uncle working on this ship, according to what is written on it. post marked May 15, 1947. lou49509@gmail.com
