Delphine

Who am I?

Thanks to MikeM for identifying the ship as the Delphine. The Delphine was the personal yacht of Horace Dodge. The yacht was named after Dodge’s only daughter and launched in 1921. The Dodge family sold the yacht in 1968 and it passed through many hands before falling into disrepair. The yacht has since been restored and in 2003 was re-christened by none less than Princess Stephanie of Monaco! If you wish to learn more about the long and colorful history of the Delphine, please click here.

That has to be the Delphine, Horace Dodge's yacht, now sailing charters in the Mediterranean.

Hi Mike,

After some quick research, you are right! That is indeed the Delphine! I knew of the yacht but am more familiar with Dodge’s race boats, which were also named Delphine. Thanks for the identification and information.

During World War II, the DELPHINE went to the aid of her country. She was acquired by the U.S. Navy, her pipe organ was removed, and she served as the flag ship of the Commander-In-Chief of the Navy, having been repainted in battle grey and renamed U.S.S. DAUNTLESS.
