Hornum
Who am I?
Thanks to Tonylast for identifying the ship as the Hornum. The ship was built as the Luksefjell in 1930 for Olsen & Ugelstad and launched in Porsgrunn, Norway. In 1937 she was purchased by Zerssen, a German shipping concern and renamed the Holnis. The vessel was renamed in 1941 to the Hornum. The Hornum was scrapped in 1962. I have no idea about this vessel (tanker?) without a little research, but there is that SAME building in the background that has appeared in other photos of the Mystery Ships. I wonder if that building is still there? Sombra, Ontario?

Per notes left by the original photographer, the majority of the photos were taken in St. Clair, Michigan. According to an e-mail I received, we are looking at Courtright, Ontario. The small building with the chimney that appears in many of the photos is/was located on the property of the Cargill Salt facility.
thank you,ookpik, for the info on the building and its location. The more photos I see, the more I am curious a/k/a interested in the background of the photographer--name, professional or just a boat-buff, local resident, related to ookpik, still going strong, deceased etc etc.
But those are probably personal matters and perhaps are best left unanswered.
Back in the 20's there was a marine photographer named Pescha who took beautiful black and white photographs of passing freighters from his rowboat in, I believe, the St. Clair River. When you started this very interesting collection of freighter photographs, I thought of him ( I have some of Pescha's photos that were made into postcards), but I know the subject photograper is not Pescha.
